ScubaTony Tours

Off the beaten path tours Now available

Scubatony land tours are designed for those guests that want to try something different. Each tour is privately run. We will only have your group on the tour at any time. We like to limit the number of guests to 6. We operate each tour to your needs often changing them on the fly to accommodate special requests. We will not rush you through any part of your tour, no hurry and no worries. If you're enjoying yourself in one spot, why rush off somewhere else? Your private guide is English speaking and very knowledgeable in each tour.

Explore the East side $85 pp
This is a great way to see the other side of the island. There are so many things that we like to offer the tour buffet! You can snorkel the west side at Dzul Ha, see Punta Sur National park (the view from the lighthouse is breathtaking), have lunch at any of the small family owned bars and restaurants on the east side, relax on the empty white sand beaches or catch up on your beachcombing skills. You can get crazy at Coconuts and see the Mayan ruins at San Gervasio. Or you can stop by Casa Antique for a tour of the farm and tequila tasting. All of these things are available and the only limit is your endurance or lack thereof. We suggest 4-8 hours but the time is up to you. Price includes: transportation, private guide, cold beer and soft drinks, snorkel gear and entry into the parks.
Explore Ek bALAM RUINS $120 pp
Ek Balam is one of the last hidden gems in the Yucatan. Located just 20 min north of Villadolid, tucked back in the jungle it is one of the least visited of all the developed ruins in the area. Only a few buildings have been excavated and restored so far including the tomb of the ruler of Ek Balam. There are amazing stucco walls at the entrance of the tomb shaped as a jaguar's mouth. The style of the relief can be found nowhere else in the Yucatan. It is a little far away so we like to combine these ruins with the Villadolid tour if guests are up for the long day. Cenote Madness
There is very little surface water here in the Yucatan. Most of the water runs in underground rivers. A cenote is a breakdown in the ceiling of these underground rivers allowing access to the crystal clear waters below. If you like to snorkel this is the tour for you. Each cenote has its own feel and ambiance. Carved into the jungle floors, these pure water underground rivers are spectacular natural environments. No two are alike so we like to include at least three on your tour. Bring your camera; you won't want to miss the many breathtaking sights. Price includes: snorkel gear, entry into the cenotes, private guide and ferry ticket to and from the mainland.

Valladolid was built on the old Mayan town of Zaci. It was founded in 1543 by the Spaniards and is one of the first colonial cities in the Americas. The cathedral in the plaza (shown here) is the oldest one in the New World. It is a place that has not lost its original character due to tourism. You can still find village people coming in to trade and purchace goods as they have for hundreds of years. You will sit down for a local lunch includinga variety of local dishes like Puc Chuc and Sopa de limon. A visit to Villadolid would not be complete without swiming in its amazing Cenote Zaci. It is strikingly beautiful and peaceful as you can see in the video.. Video tour of Villadolid

Coba Ruins $120 pp
Many of you have heard of Chichen Itza. It is most visited Mayan ruins in the in all of Mexico. This is why we don't go there! The huge buses unloading thousands of tourist everyday makes you feel like one of the herd getting in-line.
Coba ruins, on the other hand, are off the beaten path. Coba ruins are about two hours southwest of Playa del Carmen set back in the jungle. Most of the ruins are excavated but some of the structures are still untouched. The path that wanders through the jungle gives you a feel of what it might have been like when it was a thriving Mayan city. The largest pyramid (Nohoch Mul) is the tallest in the Yucatan and you can still climb the 120 steps to the top where you will be rewarded with a view above the forest treetops. If time permits, you can also visit some of the lesser known and breathtaking cenotes along the way. This is a full day tour, returning you to Cozumel around 7 pm. Tour package includes: private guide, transportation, entrance fees and snorkel equipment. Video tour of Coba
